MY FOREST

I stand amidst the forest growth Looking up at the trees. A darken blue sky sparkling with starlight. A moon suspended above. A lonely loon's cry carried on the wind. Yet I know not the forest's heart. Nor do I hear its silent cries. I can see the new growth. I can hear the movement of the animals. I see the sunlight as it shines through the branches at daylight. I cannot see the forest's heart. But I can feel what it allows me to. I feel the warm embrace of the wind as it passes I hear the gentle songs of the birds as they sing. I hear the crickets on the nearby log. I see the deer grazing by the pond. I see the many wild flowers that have sprung up here and there. I watch the rabbits popping in and out of their burrows. I see the tameness in this wilderness of splendor. I feel the beating of the forest's heart.... My forest is a precious friend to me. It holds me in a warm embrace Yet it loves me not.....I am a stranger. It is filled with many beating hearts Not always visible to my tired eyes. Sounds murmurred throughout the forest The wind echoing their song. It is a lonely place for some A home for more than one can see. From tiny insects to full grown animals.
